99/00ES BRAKE UPGRADE All 1999/2000 Mazda Protege DX/LX Protege's have tiny 9.3" front brake rotors. You can order the 1999/2000 Protege ES rotors/calipers/pads and perform a direct swap. Everything bolts up. Follow the pictures.
Here's a list of all the part numbers you need:
(1) B26K-43-900 - Proportioning Valve
*I did not order the proportioning valve from the 1.8 myself. My mechanic said I probably did not need it, so I didn't bother orderering it yet. So far, so good.

1: Remove upper and lower caliper bolts, then remove upper and lower bracket bolts. Your caliper should come right off from the hub. Remove brake pads.
![]() 2: Next, the rotor should slide right off. If not, take a rubbet mallet and pound it until it unsticks itself from the hub. 3: Install new rotor. Picture here are new rotor behind old rotor. ![]() 4: Install new caliper/bracket assembly in reverse order as Step 1. ![]() 5: Install brake line from old caliper onto new caliper. ![]() 6: Perform same procedure on opposite side. 7: Bleed brakes. 8: You're done! ![]()
